Nicky Hilton Rothschild has designed a footwear collection for French Sole New York, one of her go-to shoe labels.
The American socialite is often spotted out and about in French Sole’s famous ballet flats, and it was while shopping in the brand’s Lexington Avenue store in New York that the idea struck her to join forces with them.
The result is a collection featuring ballet styles, loafers and pumps, which will be available from July (19).
“I was in the (French Sole Comfort) store picking up some (shoes) and came up with the idea of collaborating on a capsule collection, and they loved it,” Nicky told Footwear News, adding that she approached brand founder Randy Ochart with the concept, who jumped at the chance.
“We immediately felt a sense of affinity with Nicky, who reflects our Upper East Side store’s demographic in many ways but at the same time brings a fresh perspective to the brand,” Randy said. “She is a confident person who understands fashion. Coupled with her experience of being a city mom with two kids, she senses what’s practical in the real world.”
The collaboration marks the hotel heiress’ first foray into footwear, though she has plenty of design experience under her belt, having previously created clothes, handbags, and jewellery.
“This was the missing link,” the 35-year-old smiled. “It was a fun experience that was completely new and different compared to clothing. If I want to put a bow on a shoe, I can (choose) from thousands. The options are endless.”
Prices range from $125 to $225 (£96 – £172) with Nicky promising her designs have the comfort factor, thanks to extra padding that has been added through the entire collection.
